About Joshua Levinberg

Successful Israeli businessman and entrepreneur Joshua Levinberg is a native of Tel Aviv, where he is still resident. Living in this coastal city allows him to pursue his varied business interests as well as his passion for windsurfing. Levinberg matriculated from Ohel Shem High School in Ramat Gan, which has a reputation for educating many of the country's most successful businessmen, and later graduated from Tel Aviv University with a B.Sc. in electrical engineering and electronics.

As a keynote speaker at the recent Mergermarket M&A in Israel Conference, he explained the value of going to New York for capital investment to increase company exposure thereby attracting global investors. In his experience, local funding doesn't get the same results, and as far as growing a company quickly he recommends M&A.

In 2003 Joshua co-founded JAL Ventures with his brother and partner, Amiram. Levinberg's visionary streak is clear in JAL Ventures, an innovative investment company that recognizes, and capitalizes on, the potential success of the newest markets well before other investors. JAL Ventures was a primary investor in Kasamba, an online service providing expert advice in various fields, and an early precursor of social media. Kasamba's success earned it an approximately $40M price ticket when acquired by LivePerson (NASDAQ: LPSN) in 2007.

Agropeace Bio is another of JAL Ventures' main investments, and in addition to co-founding the company, Levinberg serves on the Board of Directors. This Israeli company establishes bio-diesel fuel related projects in Africa.

The broad range of companies comprising JAL Ventures' portfolio is tribute to Levinberg's keen business and financial sense.

Levinberg was a co-founder of Gilat in 1987, and has remained committed to the company. Gilat, a world leader in the satellite networking market, has been a public company since 1993. With a presence in some 85 countries, Gilat Satellite Networks (NASDAQ;GILT) has taken a leading position in the creation of new and advanced satellite and hybrid goods and services for networking. Having held a number of positions in Gilat and its subsidiaries, both Israel and abroad, Levinberg today serves as Gilat's Senior Advisor for Business Development and Corporate Strategy.

Joshua Levinberg founded the Global Village Telecom (GVT) and served as its CEO from 1998-1999. The company, which has its headquarters in Brazil, develops new products and solutions that are applicable to the telecommunications industry. When GVT was acquired by Vivendi, it was with a price tag of $4 billion USD. Another company established by Joshua Levinberg was Satalynx SA, which has now become a subsidiary of GE and is called GE-Satcom. He served as its Chairman of the Board during the years 2002-2003.

When his alma mater, Tel Aviv University, recently hosted the MIT Enterprise Forum, Levinberg was asked to present the excellent opportunities Brazil holds for investment and expansion. He also touched on Gilat's involvement in helping some 200,000 schools in Brazil, and their students, get connected to the Internet.
